Studio 3e8 Unveils the Mesa 1: Metal 3D Printing on Your Desktop

Launching on Kickstarter December 1, starting at $3,500.

SOMERVILLE, Mass., October 28, 2026 | Studio 3e8 today revealed the Mesa 1, a desktop metal 3D printer that puts professional-quality metal parts within reach of any workspace. To overcome the barriers to owning and using a metal printer, the company engineered a new printing technology and an easy-to-use ecosystem of software, hardware, and materials.

The Mesa 1 uses no lasers or binders, and there is no support removal or loose metal powder to handle after a print. Users import a 3D model, slice, and upload. The slicer generates the print in two materials, metal and scaffold, which the Mesa 1 deposits from fully sealed powder cartridges. Metal builds the part, and scaffold holds its shape. The part prints directly into a crucible inside the integrated furnace, which automatically sinters it into dense metal with nothing to move or handle in between.

Our team saw the barriers to metal printing firsthand working on industrial 3D printing and manufacturing systems. We built the tool we always wanted.
