studio 3e8, a 3D printing company bringing metal printing technology to the desktop and at an order of magnitude cheaper cost, announced the close of its $2 million Seed round. Draper Associates led the round, with additional investments from Boost VCrpv, and Blue Collective

studio 3e8 is developing a fully integrated hardware, software, and materials ecosystem that enables metal part production at the speed of information. The company’s mission is to make professional-grade fabrication affordable, compact, and easy to use—putting tomorrow's manufacturing capabilities into the hands of today’s engineers and designers.

“It’s been a dream to build a team and technology capable of reshaping the intrinsically-human process of creation,” said Casey Johnson, Cofounder and CEO. “The prototype on our bench is the closest thing to a magic wand that I've ever held - and I’ve been designing and building 3D printing technologies for a decade. studio 3e8 is building a world where iterations are driven by learnings rather than lead times.”

“We’re so excited to be working with such incredible investor partners who really understand the benefits of our technology,” continued Cassie Lowell, Cofounder and CPO. “The future of fabrication, from prototyping through end-use manufacturing, will now be in-house production using Studio 3e8’s printer.”

“We are building a world where 0s and 1s can be converted into functional metal parts,” said Casey. “It’s alchemy for the Information Age, and we can’t wait to share this magic with all of you.”
